United Payment Interface (UPI), have become the preferred alternative payment method to cash. So, how to use rupay credit card for UPI? By simply having a bank account and registering it on UPI apps, anyone can scan a QR code and pay for their purchases. However, until recently, UPI payments could only be made via bank accounts. All that changed as RBI (Reserve Bank of India) and NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) enabled Rupay credit cards for UPI payments as well. Now, you can seamlessly pay via UPI on credit. Just like regular UPI transactions, customers can scan merchant QRs and pay using any UPI app. Here is how you can register a Rupay credit card on UPI:
1. Step 1. Open any UPI payments app on your mobile.
2. Step 2. Go to the menu section or tap on your profile.
3. Step 3. Next, you need to go to your account section and/or click on 'Add Debit/Credit card'. If you do not have a UPI ID previously, tap on 'Create New UPI ID'.
4. Step 4. Select the Rupay credit card you wish to register from the list.
5. Step 5. Choose the UPI ID you want to register and tap 'Proceed'.
6. Step 6. Review all details on the next page.
7. Step 7. Click on 'Confirm' to register your Rupay credit card.

Paying with a Rupay credit card using UPI has become immensely popular since RBI and NPCI enabled credit cards for UPI transactions. If you are a new credit card holder or do not know how UPI payments work, here is a guide on how to pay with UPI using your Rupay credit card:
On your device, open any UPI app of your choice. Popular applications include PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and more (along with each bank's apps). If you do not have a UPI app, download one from Android PlayStore or Apple's App Store.
To register your Rupay credit card for UPI, explore the 'Add New Payment Methods or 'Linla Card'.
Once registered, choose a credit card as your primary payment option, before entering details like card number, expiry, CVV, and name of the cardholder.
Follow the on-screen instructions to finalise linking of Rupay credit cards with UPI.
Enter UPI Id or scan a QR code and click on 'Payment or Send Money'. Make sure the details are accurate before paying.
Enter the desired amount you went to spend.

As with bank accounts, Rupay Credit card holders can create a Google Pay UPI account to pay their bills, shop, and send peer-to-peer money transfers. Google Pay has seen unparalleled success in India with 67 million users in India. With RBI's new guidelines, Rupay Credit card holders can make UPI payments on Google Pay and other UPI apps. Here are the steps to register your UPI app on your Google Pay:
1. Download & open Google Pay
2. Tap on your profile picture on the top right
3. Click on ‘Add Rupay Credit Card’
4. Choose the bank that issued the Rupay Credit card
5. Select the card you want to add from the list of credit cards
6. Add credit card details to verify your account
7. Next, you need to create your UPI pin. If you remember your UPI pin, enter it. If you have forgot your PIN, click on ‘Forgot PIN’ and follow the instructions. If you do not have a PIN, follow the on-screen instructions and create a PIN.

How to proceed if I have forgotten my PIN?
If you have forgotten your UPI pin, open your UPI app, go to the credit card account for which you have to reset the pin, and click on 'Forgot UPI PIN' from the drop-down. Follow the rest of the steps to reset your Rupay credit card UPI pin.
How can I link my credit card to UPI if my number has changed?
If your number has changed, kindly visit and update your contact at your credit card issuer. Once your number is updated, you have to re-register your Rupay credit card on your UPI app with the new number.
