RuPay, an Indian Multinational Financial Services and Payments System owned by the NCPI, can now be linked to UPI apps. This is initiated for customers to make quick and easy payments to various bank accounts. A user must register with any of the banks, such as Axis Bank, BOB Financial Solutions Ltd, Indian Bank, HDFC Bank, Canara Bank, etc., in order to hold a RuPay card.

RuPay cards are just like Visa and Mastercard, but for India. In today’s India, citizens opt for the Unified Payments Interface to make their payments. RuPay cards can be linked to UPI apps, such as PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, etc., that are purely Indian payment networks. On the other hand, Visa Cardholders and Mastercard Holders cannot successfully link their bank accounts to UPI as they are used internationally. UPI can be used internationally if the acceptance of UPI payments exists.

RuPay provides its customers with credit cards, debit cards, international cards, prepaid cards, and contactless cards to make payments to merchants and withdraw hard cash. Now, users can also link their bank accounts with the Aadhaar Card if they do not have a debit card with them. Therefore, customers with just an Aadhaar Card can now create a UPI ID and UPI PIN to make quick, easy, and secure payments to other bank accounts.

RuPay has made a relevant impact on the retail payment system around the nation. After 7 successful years of bringing a unique change in the way people make payments in the country, RuPay is now a known name. Alongside government scheme cards, RuPay has designed Classic, Platinum, and Select Variant Cards for the masses and affluent customers.

However, RuPay Cards are not accepted at International Payment Gateways, like Visa and Mastercard on the contrary.
