There are usually no charges for using a RuPay Credit Card for UPI; however, a few particular banks may have a little more information than this, so it is advised to check with the respective bank.
However, in any case of transaction limits with RuPay Credit Card UPI, it is mentioned below.
1: For a new RuPay Credit Card, the transaction limit is INR 5,000 only for the first 24 hours, which is 1 day. After 24 hours, the limit will be increased automatically.
2: A Surcharge may apply to users for payments made to certain merchant brackets, such as fuel.
However, in 2023, the NCPI announced that 1.1% would be charged on UPI transactions only for merchants, not customers; hence, no fees or charges are applied to receive or send money on UPI.
From the 1st of April 2023, NCPI decides that any merchant making a transaction above INR 2,000 via PPI Wallets or UPI will be applied an interchange charge of 1.1%. Therefore, if any merchant receives an amount above INR 2,000, such as INR 2,500 is accepted by a merchant, the merchant is required to pay a fee of INR 27.5
A merchant does not have to pay any charges if the transaction is a “Bank to Bank” transaction on the UPI App. Why has NCPI announced the 1.1% charge on UPI transactions by merchants? This will cover the Transaction Cost.
_Transaction Cost is the maintainability of the Banking infrastructure, which is necessary to make UPI payments seamless. _
