Google's UPI payment app, GPay, has revolutionised commerce in the 21st century. Cashless and contactless payments were a boon during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they continue to simplify payments to peers and merchants.
This ease of cashless transactions, where you can send or receive money anywhere, anytime, has also penetrated the rural segment. Indeed, many banks and NBFCs have followed suit and offered their customers the benefits of UPI payments.
But what is UPI, and how can you make payments from GPay? And what if you want to send someone money through GPay but don't know their UPI ID?
This article will discuss how to find UPI ID by Mobile number and much more.
UPI, or unified payment interface, is a unique digital address that identifies and connects your bank account with a secure payment gateway for transactions in India. UPI consists of letters and a special character that is easily recognisable and allows users to send or receive money in just a few taps. The format of a UPI is mostly username@bankname.
UPI ID doesn't require an online wallet from where you can send or receive money. Instead, it processes transactions directly to and from your bank account without sharing sensitive information with the payor or the receiver. This means you can make transactions stress-free without revealing your bank account or IFSC to merchants or peers.
A UPI ID is a unique identification for bank accounts in India. Mostly, you can add your name at the beginning, followed by @, and then a bank name. However, some UPI IDs also have a number instead of a username.
1: "username@ybl", or
2: 84002300@oksbi
Thus, your UPI ID username can be your name, email address, or mobile number, followed by @ and then the initials of the bank name (ybl, obi).
UPI IDs act as links that facilitate seamless online transactions. To receive or send money, you need only a UPI payment app like GPay, a bank account, and an internet connection.
You can easily create a UPI ID on Google Pay in simple steps. Download GPay from the Google Play Store and follow the steps mentioned below:
